Phantasmagoric flowers and matador capes in Luz Camino’s trunk show
As a true artist and observer of life and nature, Luz Camino possesses the unique ability to see beauty everywhere.
An unparalleled jewelry designer with a refined, warm, radiant personality, whose name means “light”, Luz Camino illuminates everything she picks up, turning it into a fantastic, miniature work of art.
Extraordinary and inimitable, Luz Camino’s pieces are rare finds. One-of-a-kind or produced in limited editions, they are sought after by museums, art and jewelry collectors.
But you are in luck!
From 30 November 2022 to 8 January 2023, the new, breath-taking collection by Luz Camino will be presented at Bergdorf Goodman in New York.
Among the one-of-a-kind exhibits are the Rear Peony, Blue Heart, Bosch Flower, Capote, Peach and Blue Beetle brooches. Other creations will be presented in limited editions of 5 to 100 pieces; among them, exceptional Golden Ivy, Tambourine, Donut, Purple and Pink Fritillaria earrings, Bulrush and Pink Freesia brooches, Cupid Ring, and Night Sea Pendant.
In the Faded Hydrangea Earrings, available in a limited edition of six, an intriguing combination of silver and gold, sapphires and chrome diopside (a gorgeous gem despite its ill-sounding name), Luz Camino looks far below the surface of visible and tangible beauty. As paradoxical as it may seem, she finds inspiration and charm in the fading of the flower to create these delicate charmers.
Luz translated the fantastic and dramatic Boschian beauty, an incarnation of humankind’s deepest desires, passions and yearnings, into an unusual Bosch Flower Brooch of green sapphires, garnets, alexandrites, spinels, brown and white diamonds, silver, platinum and gold.
She has also looked into the controversial world of bullfights, which, to this day, spark heated debates about whether it is art or torture. And she saw beauty in that too, transforming the “capote” cape of the matadors into bright, expressive earrings and brooches made from sapphires, silver and gold.
An absolute authority on rendering unexpected, everyday objects into a new, majestic perspective, and the first woman in Spain to be granted the title of Sacador de Fuego (metalsmith), Luz Camino uses everything nature and life have to offer. From rare gemstones to tin cans, pencil shavings and French fries which she uses as inspiration for her unique pieces of wearable art, Luz elevates the beauty of ordinary things far above mundanity.
